For Parents
Math confidence starts with parents. Fear No Number brings together small groups of 5–6 Puget Sound local families to give parents of K - 5th graders practical tools, activities, and strategies to support their child’s math learning. Each cohort meets for 8 weeks with sessions at 90 minutes in-person or virtually every other week, and a Fear No Numbers trained professional facilitates the discussions and activities.
Together, we’ll learn how to reduce math anxiety, make math approachable and fun, and help children build the confidence they need to succeed. Because when parents feel confident about math, their children can, too.
This is a parent-only program.
Children do not attend cohort sessions, so parents are responsible for arranging their own childcare.

Family Math Workshops
Parent Learning Cohorts™ is a community delivery model through which parents, families, and caregivers
experience selected mathematics from pathways in a family-centered context.
Who This Is For
• Parents and caregivers of elementary-age students who want to support their child without fear
• Adults who carry math anxiety and are ready to heal it in community
• Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and guardians who sit at the homework table
• Community members who believe mathematics belongs to everyone
• Adults from BIPOC and immigrant communities historically underserved by math education
What This Is Not
• Not a tutoring session. There are no grades, no tests, no performance.
• Not a lecture. You will not sit in rows while someone talks at you.
• Not remediation. You are not broken, and this is not a repair shop.
• Not homework help. This is deeper than any single assignment.
What This Is
• A gathered community of adults learning mathematics together over a scheduled series of sessions
• A safe, warm, non-traumatic environment where curiosity is the only requirement
• An experience grounded in the Alston Pedagogy. You are the oldest student, not the slowest learner.
